Say Goodbye to Spider Veins

Sclerotherapy is a treatment that improves the appearance of spider veins and 1-3 mm reticular veins. It works by injecting each vein with a sclerosant, which is a medication that causes the treated vein to close, making it disappear over time. The needles used for injecting are very small and comfortable, with little discomfort during treatment. Treatments are done based on time, you can choose to do a thirty or sixty minute session. Depending on your veins, you may require more than one treatment. Treatments can be done six to eight weeks apart if you need more than one treatment. After care includes walking for 20-30 minutes daily for five days, avoiding heat exposure for one week (tanning beds, hot tubs, hot baths, running), and certain patients will benefit from wearing compression socks or hose for the first 72 hours after treatment. Sclerotherapy is a great treatment to do in the fall or winter because after treatment you can expect your veins to look red and inflamed. This is normal and completely expected. It may take up to four weeks to see the final result.
